People were talking last week about the Apple iPhone 5 and the Apple iPhone 4S and battery drain issues following the update to iOS 7. The tests showed that the Apple iPhone 4S was suffering from an issue with the battery draining down.
On the Apple iPhone 5 this seems to be a different story though, even though the battery drained fast on the Apple iPhone 4S. The article got a great deal of comments from people who have the handsets and who themselves had seen problems with battery drain, after updating to iOS 6. We looked into it and we found that there was a way to remedy the issue with the battery drain.
We did spend a great deal of time with iOS 7 beta and there was a huge difference in the battery life between the two handsets. This was something seen last year when iOS 6 came out and owners updated.
The issue is not related to hardware it seems, as it happens when you update to a new OS, for instance iOS 6 or beta iOS7.
It seems that the issue with battery drain doesn’t affect the Apple iPhone 5, however this might have been luck. The battery drain happens randomly and it depends on how you install it. You can install iOS and not have to suffer from battery drain issues.
We found a way to stop the problem with battery drain, but this is not something that you should have to think about and Apple do need to offer a fix for it.
The first thing you should do is back up your handset and then do a clean installation of iOS 6 in DFU. To do this you would need to hold down the Wake/Sleep button and the Home button. Wait until you see the Apple logo and then keep the Home button pressed until you are in recovery mode.
Once you have installed a copy of iOS 6 on the device, you can then make the update to iOS 7 beta and finally restore your data. You are also free to downgrade to iOS 6, if you made the back up in iTunes of course.
The Apple iPhone 4S did suffer very badly from battery drain as the battery drained in just hours. To ensure that you are not plagued with this, you do have to make a clean installation first. It seems that the issues come about when you restore your data and you did not make a clean installation.
So if you are having issues with the battery draining down on your iPhone, check out the above and follow the steps to remedy it.
