Three great handsets came onto the market last year in the shape of the LG Nexus 4, the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. They are still very popular today.
The LG Nexus 4 has the 1.5GHz quad core, the Apple iPhone 5 runs on the dual core at 1.2GHz and the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 packs the quad core in. In the US this is the dual core. The iPhone 5 is the slowest device of the three but it is twice as fast as the iPhone 4S. The LG Nexus 4 comes with quad core processors along with 2GB of RMA and the Samsung Galaxy S3 has quad cores and 1GB of RAM. This puts the Samsung Galaxy S3 ahead.
The LG Nexus 4 has Jelly Bean 4.2; the Samsung Galaxy S3 had ICS and was then updated to Jelly Bean 4.1. The iPhone 5 runs on iOS 6, which of course is the most streamlined. If you want to customise the device then Android is the best choice. As the LG Nexus 4 would be first to get updated, it could be a choice between this or the Apple iPhone 5.
You get a choice of 8GB or 16GB with the LG Nexus 4 but there is no SD card. The Samsung Galaxy S3 offers 16GB or 32GB and it has support for SD card. The Apple iPhone 5 has 16, 32 or 64GB but no external expansion.
The LG Nexus 4 offers an HD IPS display of 4.7 inches, with 318ppi and resolution of 1280 x 768. The iPhone 5 comes with a 4 inch display of IPS. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has the 4.8 inch display, which is Super AMOLED and 1280 x 720. Super AMOLED is thought to be hyper realistic to some people. The LG Nexus has the largest of the displays, which means it is the winner.
You may get 15 hours from the LG Nexus 4 thanks to the 2100mAh battery. AnAndTech did tests however and they said that the Apple iPhone 5 was in front, the Samsung Galaxy S3 came in second and the LG Nexus 4 trailed in last.
The weight of the LG Nexus 4 is 129 grams and it is 133.9 grams x 68.7 mm x 9.1 mm. The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes in at 136.6 mm x 70.6 mm x 8.6 mm and weighs 135 grams. The Apple iPhone 5 comes in at 112 grams and this happens to be the thinnest and the smallest of all handsets.
If you need a device that has NFC then you could choose between the LG Nexus 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. If it is LTE that you need it would be the LG Nexus 4 or the Samsung Galaxy S3. If you want both then of course there is only one choice.
You get a camera of 8MP on all three. The LG Nexus 4 comes with a 1.3 too, this captures video at 1080p. The Apple iPhone 5 has the 1.2MP camera, which is best in low light and the Samsung Galaxy S3 takes photos and videos at the same time.
Out of all the handsets the Apple iPhone 5 is the easiest of the handsets to use and the photos are great in low light, the handsets looks superb too.
For hardware the LG Nexus 4 is a good buy and the price of $299 in the Google Play Store is great, as is the fact that it runs pure Android. However it lacks storage options and doesnt come with LTE.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is great for storage and removable battery and it has Smart Stay, NFC, LTE and MHL. The Samsung Galaxy S4 was launched and the price has come down on the S3.
