Samsung Galaxy S3 & Note 2 Android 4.2.2 Update Shocker!

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has been a very popular handset not just with those wanting to buy it, but with developers too. Now thanks to the love from the developers there is a custom ROM available to take your handset to Jelly Bean 4.2.2. This means that you don’t have to wait for the real deal to be rolled out.

When installing a ROM that is not official you do have to take care. You should follow the instructions step by step.

The ROM works with the AT&T Galaxy Note 2; Verizon Galaxy Note 2; Sprint Galaxy Note 2 and the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 and the handsets do have to be rooted.

You should check to make sure that the battery level is around 70%.

You might want to make sure that security isn’t running on the handset or the computer.

Head to settings – application development and check to see if you have enabled USB debugging.

You will need to install ClockworkMod on the handset and then make a back-up of your device.

Follow the instructions step by step below to install Jelly Bean 4.2.2 on your handset.

One: Install Samsung’s USB drivers onto your PC.

Two: Connect your device to your PC and copy your chosen ROM and Google Apps to your phone’s SD card.

Three: Turn off your Note 2 and reboot it in recovery mode by pressing and holding the volume up, volume down and power keys once it’s turned off.

Four: Make a Nandroid backup for your present ROM so you can restore it if you need to. Choose backup and restore > backup. You can choose restore if you need to revert.

Five: In the main menu, choose wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition. Then go back and select advanced > wipe Dalvik cache.

Six: Return to the main menu and choose install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card. Choose the custom ROM zip file that you’ve copied onto your Note 2 and confirm the installation. Do this again with Google Apps.

Seven: Once installation has finished, return to main menu and choose reboot system now.

Eight: Your Note 2 will reboot, and this first run might take four or five minutes, so don’t worry.

You should now be able to enjoy Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and all that the Paranoid Android, AOKP and CyangenMod offers.
