The HTC One is arguably the hottest Android smartphone right here on US shores at the moment. Its biggest rival is of course the Samsung Galaxy S4 which recently received an OTA update that erased all traces of lag with many functions.
So what can we expect for the HTC One? There has been a lot of talk about Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie coming out later this year but it is Android 4.3 which is the hot new already released update; and the HTC One will apparently be the only HTC Android smartphone to get the update first.
Today we received a very interesting tip from a HTC insider who has been right in the past with US HTC smartphones.
According to the source, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update was already submitted to the four major US carriers for approval by HTC weeks before the HTC One was being updated to Android 4.2. So AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon all apparently have the Android 4.3 update for testing for quite a while now.
From this we can only assume that the T-Mobile HTC One may see the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update as soon as this month, optimistically speaking of course. Similarly we wouldn’t be surprised if AT&T and Sprint roll it out before the end of summer.
Lastly we get to the yet-to-release Verizon HTC One. If Verizon does in fact have the update for approval, it could mean two things. Firstly, there may be a Verizon HTC One coming sooner than you think. And secondly, it may just launch with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box.
Of course all this is speculation at this point so do take the information with a grain of salt. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
